Sharing a Document

Estimated time: 2 minutes

When a document is ready, you send it to your client as a link. They open it in their browser, with no account and no login. FlowEdge then tells you when they read it.

Sending a Document

  1. Open the document in the editor.
  2. Click Share in the editor header. On narrow screens this shows as an icon rather than the word.
  3. The Share Document dialog opens with a Client Link. Use the copy button beside it.
  4. Paste that link into your email or message to the client.

The first time you share a document, two things happen: FlowEdge creates the link, and the document moves out of Draft to Awaiting reply. See Deal Status for what those labels mean.

💡 Tip

Use the Preview button in the share dialog to see exactly what your client will see. Previewing does not count as an open, so it will not disturb your read tracking.

What Your Client Sees

The shared page shows your document with your branding — your logo, your company name — not FlowEdge’s. There is nothing for your client to sign up for or dismiss.

The page is also marked so that search engines do not index it, so a shared document will not turn up in search results.

Sharing a Document Again

Clicking Share on a document you have already shared just reopens the dialog. It does not create a second link, and it does not change anything about the document. The link you sent originally is still the link.

There is no share button on the Clients page, so to reach the dialog again, open the document itself.

If you need to stop a client opening a document — the wrong version went out, or a deal has moved on — you can revoke the link:

  1. Open the document and click Share.
  2. Click Revoke link, then confirm.

Anyone who opens the link afterwards sees “This document is no longer available” rather than your document. The document itself, its status, and its read history are all kept.

To switch it back on, open the dialog again and click Reactivate link.

⚠️ Important

Reactivating a link restores the identical URL — not a new one. That means anyone who still has the old link, including anyone it was forwarded to, regains access the moment you reactivate. Revoking pauses a link; it does not shred it. If you need someone permanently cut off, leave the link revoked.

On the client’s page in FlowEdge, each document shows its link state at a glance:

  • Shared — a share link is active for this document
  • Link revoked — the link exists but is currently switched off

The editor header shows the same thing: the Share button reads Link revoked when the link is off.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does my client need a FlowEdge account to view the document?
No. Anyone with the link can open the document in their browser — no account, no login, and nothing to install. The page shows your logo and company name, not FlowEdge's.
Can I turn off a FlowEdge share link after sending it?
Yes. Open the document, click Share, then Revoke link. Anyone opening it afterwards sees a 'no longer available' message instead of your document.
Does revoking a link permanently destroy it?
No. Revoking switches the link off, and reactivating it later restores the exact same URL — so anyone who still has that link regains access. If you need someone permanently cut off, leave the link revoked.
