Pay-As-You-Go Credits
Estimated time: 3 minutes
Not ready for a monthly subscription? Pay-as-you-go credits let you generate documents on demand. Buy credits when you need them and use them at your own pace.
How Credits Work
The credit system is simple:
- 1 credit = 1 document generation — Whether it is a proposal, SOW, contract, or general document
- Editing a document does not use credits
- Downloading PDFs does not use credits
- Regenerating a document uses 1 credit (because it creates a new document)
What Credits Cost
One credit costs $1, and one credit generates one document.
The price is the same whatever amount you buy — there is no bulk discount and no pack sizes to compare. On the Billing page you top up in one of three amounts:
| Top-up | Credits you get | Documents you can generate |
|---|---|---|
| $5 | 5 credits | 5 |
| $10 | 10 credits | 10 |
| $20 | 20 credits | 20 |
Need more than $20 of credits? Top up more than once — there is no limit on how often you can.
💡 Tip
If you buy credits most months, a subscription plan works out cheaper per document. Compare the options in Plans & Pricing.
Credits Do Not Expire
Pay-as-you-go credits stay in your account until you use them. There is no expiry date and no deadline to spend them by.
This is the main difference from the monthly credits included with a subscription, which reset at the end of each billing month and do not roll over. If you have both, you are only ever losing unused subscription credits — your topped-up credits carry on.
✅ Best Practice
Because credits never expire, you can top up whatever amount suits you without doing the maths on whether you will use them in time. Buy what you need, when you need it.
Checking Your Credit Balance
You can see how many credits you have left:
- On your Dashboard — The credits gauge shows your remaining balance, with a Buy More Credits button when you are running low
- On the Billing page — A detailed view of your credits and purchase history
- Before you generate — FlowEdge checks your balance when you start a generation and tells you if you are out
Credits vs. Subscription Plans
| Pay-As-You-Go | Monthly Plan | |
|---|---|---|
| Commitment | None | Monthly |
| Cost per document | $1 | Lower — you buy a monthly allowance up front |
| Unused credits | Stay until you use them | Reset each month, no rollover |
| Best for | Occasional or unpredictable use | Regular, steady use |
If you generate documents most months, a subscription is usually better value. If your work comes in bursts, pay-as-you-go avoids paying for months you do not use.
