Generate Form Fields Guide
Estimated time: 3 minutes
The generation form is where you tell FlowEdge what to create. Each field plays a role in shaping your final document. Here is a breakdown of every field and how to get the most out of it.
Required Fields
Client Name
Type the name of the person or business you are creating the document for. As you type, FlowEdge will suggest matches from your existing client list. If the client does not exist yet, FlowEdge will create a new client record for you automatically.
Project Name
Give your project a clear, descriptive name — like “Website Redesign Phase 2” or “Annual Marketing Strategy.” This name appears on your document cover page and helps you find the document later.
Document Type
Choose the type of document you want to generate:
- Proposal — A persuasive pitch for new work
- SOW (Statement of Work) — A detailed scope and deliverables breakdown
- Contract — A formal agreement with terms and conditions
- General Document — Any other business document
Not sure which to pick? Read Document Types Explained for a full comparison.
Depth
Choose how detailed you want your document:
- Concise — Shorter, straight to the point. Great for smaller projects or quick turnarounds.
- Comprehensive — Longer, more thorough. Ideal for complex projects or clients who want full details.

Project Description
This is the most important field on the form. The AI uses your description to understand the project and write your document. The more detail you provide, the more accurate and relevant the result will be.
✅ Best Practice
Include these details in your project description: scope of work, key deliverables, timeline, budget range, and any special requirements or constraints.
Smart Labels
As you fill in the form, you may notice smart labels — helpful hints that appear next to certain fields. These are AI-powered suggestions that guide you toward providing the right level of detail. They adapt based on the document type you select.
Optional: Supporting Documents
Below the form fields, you can upload reference files to give the AI extra context. This could be a client brief, meeting notes, an RFP, or a previous proposal. Learn more about Uploading Supporting Documents.
⚠️ Important
A vague project description leads to a generic document. Take an extra minute to be specific — it pays off in document quality.
What Happens Next
After you fill in the form and click Generate, FlowEdge begins creating your document. You can follow the progress in real time — see Generation Progress for details.
