Generation Progress

After you click Generate, FlowEdge’s AI gets to work creating your document. You can follow the entire process in real time through the progress panel.
The Five Steps
When generation begins, you will see a progress panel with five steps. Here is what happens at each stage:
Step 1: Analyzing
The AI reads your project description, client details, and any uploaded files. It identifies the key themes, requirements, and deliverables to build your document around.
Step 2: Structuring
Based on the document type you selected (Proposal, SOW, Contract, or General), the AI creates an outline. It decides which sections to include and how to organize them for maximum clarity.
Step 3: Writing
This is where the magic happens. The AI writes each section of your document, using your project description and supporting materials as its guide. It matches the tone and style from your Preferences.
Step 4: Formatting
The AI applies your branding — your logo, brand colors, and font selections. It formats headings, tables, lists, and other elements so everything looks polished.
Step 5: Finalizing
The final check. The AI reviews the document for consistency, fills in any remaining details, and prepares it for the editor.
💡 Tip
You do not need to stay on the page while the document generates. But watching the progress is a great way to see how quickly FlowEdge works!
How Long Does It Take?
Most documents are generated in about 60 seconds. A few things can affect timing:
- Document depth — Comprehensive documents take a bit longer than concise ones. Learn more about Document Depth.
- Uploaded files — If you uploaded reference materials, the AI spends extra time analyzing them.
- Document type — Contracts and detailed SOWs may take slightly longer due to their structured nature.
What Happens After Generation
Once all five steps are complete, your document opens automatically in the document editor. From there, you can:
- Review and edit any section
- Toggle the cover page on or off
- Download it as a PDF
⚠️ Important
If generation seems stuck or takes longer than expected, do not refresh the page. The process may be working through complex inputs. If it does not complete after a few minutes, try generating again.
Not Happy With the Result?
If the generated document does not match your expectations, you have options:
- Edit it — Use the document editor to make changes directly.
- Regenerate it — Start fresh with updated inputs. See Regenerate Documents for details.
- Improve your inputs — A more detailed project description in the form fields leads to better results.
