Regenerate Documents
Sometimes your first generated document is not quite right. Maybe you want a different tone, more detail, or you have new information to include. FlowEdge makes it easy to regenerate a fresh version without starting from scratch.
When to Regenerate
Consider regenerating when:
- You have new information about the project that changes the scope
- You want to try a different document depth (switching from Concise to Comprehensive, or vice versa)
- The first version missed the mark on tone or focus
- You want to explore different approaches the AI might take
If you just need to fix a few sentences or adjust specific details, it is usually faster to edit the document directly instead of regenerating.
💡 Tip
Regenerating creates a completely new document. If you just need to tweak a paragraph or two, the document editor is faster.
How to Regenerate
- Open the document you want to regenerate.
- Click the Regenerate button.
- You will see the generation form pre-filled with your original inputs.
- Update any fields you want to change — project description, depth, document type, or supporting files.
- Click Generate to create a fresh version.
What Changes and What Stays
When you regenerate:
- A new version is created — The AI generates completely new content based on your updated inputs.
- Your original is preserved — The previous version stays in your documents list. You can always go back to it.
- Client and project stay linked — The new document is still connected to the same client and project.
⚠️ Important
Regenerating uses one of your document credits. If you have limited credits, consider editing the existing document instead of generating a new one.
Tips for Better Regeneration Results
- Improve your project description — Add more specific details about scope, deliverables, and goals. See Generate Form Fields for tips.
- Try a different depth — Switch between Concise and Comprehensive to see which fits better. Learn about Document Depth.
- Upload additional context — Attach client briefs, meeting notes, or other reference materials. See Upload Supporting Documents.
- Update your preferences — If the tone is consistently off, adjust it in your Preferences.
✅ Best Practice
Before regenerating, take a moment to identify what was not right about the first version. Then update your inputs specifically to address those issues. A targeted improvement works better than a blind retry.
