Guided Doc Generation (Beta)
Guided Doc Generation is a Beta feature that interviews you before writing. Instead of asking you to fill in a form and hope you covered everything, FlowEdge reads what you have already given it and asks only about the gaps.
Do You Have It, and How to Turn It On

Guided Doc Generation is on by default only for accounts created from 23 July 2026. Accounts created before that date kept whatever setting they already had — which for most people means it is off. If you have been with FlowEdge a while, you almost certainly need to switch it on yourself.
The switch is in two places, and they are the same switch:
- Settings — the Guided Doc Generation (Beta) card
- Your Dashboard — the same card, so you can flip it without leaving your work
Turning it on takes effect immediately. So does turning it off.
What It Asks
Once it is on, generating a document starts an interview rather than a form. It runs in three parts:
- The gaps. Questions about anything the document type needs that your context does not already cover — deliverables, timeline, pricing, exclusions, and so on, depending on what you are producing.
- How detailed you want it. A single question — Concise, Comprehensive, or Skip to leave it at your saved default. See Document Depth.
- Anything else. A final open box — “Anything else you’d like to add before I generate?” — which you can skip with No, generate now.
When it has what it needs it tells you so — “Looks like I have everything I need.” — and hands you an explicit button to generate. It never starts writing without you pressing it.
Why It Sometimes Asks Almost Nothing
The interview treats a point as covered if anything you have already given it addresses that point — even partially or in passing.
That includes far more than your uploads:
- the project description and requirements you typed
- files you uploaded
- text you pasted in instead of uploading
- your saved client details and your own company profile
So a project with a detailed brief and a good transcript may produce one or two questions, or none at all. That is the feature working. A thin project with no context will be asked more, because there is genuinely more it does not know.
💡 Tip
The fastest way to shorten the interview is to give it more up front — a fuller project description, or a pasted call transcript. Time spent there is not extra work; it is the same information, given once, in whatever form you already have it.
It Works for Every Document Type
Proposals, statements of work, contracts and briefings each have their own set of questions, matched to what that document actually needs. A contract interview asks about parties and terms; an SOW interview asks about deliverables and acceptance. See Document Types Explained.
When Something Goes Wrong
The interview handles problems by asking rather than failing:
- A file it cannot read. It tells you which file, and offers to let you paste the text instead, skip that file, or replace it.
- Too much material at once. If your combined inputs exceed what fits in a single pass, it offers to remove a specific file, auto-summarise everything to fit, or trim to fit and proceed.
You are never left with a silent failure or a document written from material that was quietly dropped.
Picking Up Where You Left Off
If you leave an interview part-way through, FlowEdge remembers. Next time you generate the same document type for that project you will see a banner telling you an interview is in progress and how many answers are saved, with Resume and Start over.
Start over discards the saved answers and begins a fresh interview. Resume continues from where you stopped.
Turning It Off

Go to Settings (or your Dashboard), find Guided Doc Generation (Beta), and switch it off. The standard generation form returns immediately, and nothing you have already produced changes.
You can also stay in the interview but complete it yourself: choose Fill in the details yourself to see the remaining fields as a plain form.
